The LEED Certified College of the Rockies saw a transformation of the Kootenay Centre’s lower level with added faculty offices and seven classrooms featuring leading-edge technology, while the upper level is an iconic port of entry, reinforcing the College’s identity as a high-caliber, degree-granting institution.
The expansion creates four hi-tech classrooms, a student lounge and offices on the lower level, and a reception area and central grand foyer space on the main level serve as the main entrance, student lounge and gathering space. The project also included major renovations around the existing atrium and south wing to accommodate relocated student services, financial aid and admissions/registration to the 'front of house'.
The project was fast-tracked using Construction Management, a fully integrated design process and integrated 3d modeling of architectural, mechanical, structural and electrical systems using Autodesk's Revit Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
