laxgaltS'ap community centre

greenville, BC

This new 2-storey, 25,000 sq.ft. community centre includes a large sport/community hall with bleacher seating, dressing rooms, and a community kitchen and cafeteria. Also featured is an elder’s multi-purpose space, aerobics studio, fitness studio, gymnasium, computer lab and an art exhibition area. Mechanical design features include air-to-air heat recovery units which remove heat from the building's exhaust system and use it to pre-heat the ventilation air, a high-efficiency water source heat pump system designed to connect to a future geo-exchange field, and CO2 control for the gymnasium's ventilation system. This allows the air handling units to bring in only as much ventilation as is required for various sized gatherings, from small team games to large feasts. In addition, occupancy sensors are used to control ventilation in the other spaces.
