Nuxalk community building
bella coola, BC
AME was part of the design team for the new Nuxalk Community Building which replaces a previous building destroyed by fire. Located near Bella Coola in northern BC, the new facility is 15,500 sq.ft. building with two wings; one for the band administration offices and the other dedicated to health services. Band members now have access to a health clinic with a community room, two dental treatment rooms, a bathing room and office space for home and community services.
This facility qualified for eco-energy funding for its environmentally-friendly measures such as a geothermal heat recovery field. It is operated by the Nuxalk Nation, a community of about 1,000 residents.
