Whitehorse general hospital expansion
AME is providing mechanical consulting services for the new state-of-the-art, 2-storey hospital wing expansion to be built at Whitehorse General Hospital (WGH) in the Yukon Territories. The project is a design-build agreement with the Yukon Hospital Corporation and funded by the Government of Yukon.
The $72 million expansion includes a new Emergency Department, the construction of an MRI facility (which opened in January 2015), a shelled second-floor for future use and various facility enhancements to provide improved healthcare services to Yukoners. Completion of the hospital expansion is anticipated late 2017.
Additional key features of this impressive project include; improvements to WGH's power infrastructure to support expansion along with a new data centre to provide information systems for patient care, relocation of key diagnostic imaging equipment such as CT scanner and X-ray closer to the new emergency department, and relocation of the ambulance station from its current site by WGH to a new building nearby on hospital Road.
