Sep 29, 2014 | Celebrations

The Directors of The AME Consulting Group Ltd. (AME Group) and Sterling Engineering Inc. (Sterling) are excited to announce that, effective October 1, 2014, our mechanical consulting teams will be joining as one firm and this combined Calgary entity will be known as AME-Sterling.

Since starting Sterling Engineering Inc. in 1991, Principal, Jerry Radu, P.Eng., and his team of talented professionals have established an impressive portfolio of work and a wealth of innovative, technical expertise with special emphasis on sports arenas and recreational projects.

“The staff of Sterling is very excited to be part of the AME Group.”, says Jerry. “The mechanical engineering experience of both firms compliments each other such that we can serve our clients better. We look forward to expanding Sterling’s capability and participating in larger projects and associated new clients.”

Founded in Victoria in 2005, The AME Consulting Group Ltd. is a consulting engineering firm specializing in sustainable mechanical engineering services and is associated with some of the most recognized strategic projects in Canada and internationally, not just in the sports and recreation sector, but also in educational, civic, institutional and commercial projects.

In the nine years since its inception, the company has grown to almost 70 employees and includes offices in Victoria and Vancouver. With the addition of a Calgary location with Sterling, AME is strategically positioned to reinforce its highly-acclaimed innovative expertise across Western Canada.

AME Group’s founder, Rob Walter, explains, “The Principals at AME have been close colleagues with the team at Sterling for over 12 years. Most recently we worked together on the Olympic Oval venue in Richmond, BC for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Our companies’ shared clientcentered values and creative expertise made it an easy decision to have Sterling join the AME Group when the opportunity became available and we are extremely proud to welcome Jerry Radu, and his staff to AME’s team of mechanical consulting engineers.”

“The Sterling Engineering team has numerous years of specialist experience in refrigeration systems for state-of-the-art arenas,” he adds, “while AME has extensive experience in aquatic centres, with specialized expertise in filtration and disinfection. This enhanced combination of strengths reinforces AME’s expertise in recreation projects across North America while we strategically expand our presence in the Alberta market.”

As part of this exciting opportunity, AME is pleased to announce that Principal, Paula Kerr, P.Eng., will relocate to Calgary to join Principal, Jerry Radu, in leading the AME-Sterling team as The AME Consulting Group Ltd. continues to grow and serve our western Canadian clients from our new Calgary location. Paula joined AME’s Vancouver office in 2012 bringing more than six years of international experience in mechanical design from Ireland and the UK.

An extended transition program will see the two firms eventually blend into one company under the AME brand.
