Media Release

AME Group is proud to announce its recognition as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers for 2024. We believe in our people and the culture we have created over the years at AME, and are thrilled to have our efforts recognized.   This award reflects our commitment to creating a diverse, inclusive work environment and our dedication to sustainable building practices.  It is not just a testament to our BC offices, but to every single one of our team across our offices in BC and Alberta and demonstrates our collective commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.

Now in its 19th year, BC’s Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Editors at Mediacorp review employers on eight criteria, which have remained consistent since the project’s inception: (1) Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement.

The editors publish detailed ‘reasons for selection’ for these criteria, providing transparency in the selection of winners and a catalogue of best practices for employers and job-seekers alike. Read about AME’s selection, here.

At AME Group, we are known for our expertise in Mechanical Design, Fire Protection Design, Building Performance, Commissioning, and Building Energy Services, including:

  • Passive House design,
  • Zero Carbon Building design,
  • LEED design,
  • Decarbonization studies and design,
  • BC Energy Step Code compliance,
  • Building energy modelling,
  • Thermal comfort analysis,
  • Embodied carbon assessment.

Our projects, such as municipal buildings, housing, healthcare, community recreation centres, and education facilities, often exceed high energy-efficiency standards, reflecting our dedication to reducing the environmental footprint of our work.  We are proud to have been involved in a diverse range of award-winning, sustainable and community-focused projects across Western Canada.

“Having meaningful work is really important, and we feel like that’s an essential part of what we do, we’re not just doing engineering, selling our time, settling bills. We feel like we’ve got a duty to give back to the community.”
Nic Besseling

Director and Principal

In 2023, AME Group received our Just label from the International Living Future Institute, demonstrating a transparency and commitment to social responsibility, community investments, and employee opportunities.  Recently, we expanded our parental leave policy, outlined a training and education budget, and renewed our commitment to giving back to the community.  Read more about our Just Label in this recent blog.

“I really like my line of work – it provides me with income, yes, but also a sense of meaning. When I go into a meeting, I know my suggestions will help shape a building in the future.”
Amy Xu

Project Manager - Building Performance

We believe in investing in our people, with each full-time employee receiving $2,500 annually for training and development.  In additon, we also offer a generous 16-week parental pay leave top-up, supporting our employees as they balance their professional and personal lives.

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) are at the heart of our culture.  Fifty percent of our employees are visible minorities, demonstrating our commitment to diversity and equal opportunity. With a focus on action and understanding, we completed our first DEI survey last year and are working with not-for-profit groups to actively encouraging more young women to consider a career in mechanical engineering.

Ensuring all voices are heard, we have five employee-resource groups  (AME Teams) that provide ideas and recommendations to improve our workplace, ourselves and the communities where we work, live and play.  Our current AME Teams are Technology, BIM, Sustainability, Social, and IDEA (inclusivity, diversity, equity, and action).

We invite our employees, clients and friends to join us in celebrating this achievement.  We look forward to continuing our commitment to creating a positive and inclusive culture at AME!  Read the full article here (page 20-21).
