AME Wins First Place for Two ASHRAE Awards!

We are excited to announce that AME has been awarded two ASHRAE awards for our work on the new Okanagan College Trades Complex in Kelowna, BC - a LEED Platinum targeted renewal and expansion project: 2017 Winner of ASHRAE’s Ralph Robson Award – awarded for the best overall Technical Award submission in Region XI 2017 ASHRAE Technology Award – First Place Region XI and BC Chapter Award, Existing Educational Facility which qualifies this project for the Society Level Technology Awards to be awarded January 2018.


LEED Platinum for UBC Student Union “Nest”

As Mechanical Consultant on UBC's new, award-winning Student Union Building (The Nest) AME is excited to share the project's success in achieving LEED Platinum certification. A partnership between DIALOG and B+H Architects with collaborative input from UBC's Alma Mater Society (AMS), the project's sustainability measures include natural ventilation, solar energy, heat recovery, and rainwater harvested for use in plumbing systems.

Passive House (aka Passiv Haus) is a German-based energy performance standard aimed at designing buildings that are extremely thermally energy efficient and therefore require very little heating energy to maintain comfortable conditions. The Passive House concept is the only internationally recognized performance-based standard in construction, with buildings designed such that the vast majority of heating needs are met by the normal heat generated inside a building from people, lighting, and electrical devices, as well as passive solar heating from well-placed windows.
