Intermediate Mechanical Designer
Calgary, AB
Position Details
AME is looking for someone who is motivated, talented, and a committed team member to join us. Applicants should be a well-experienced engineer with an excellent track record – technically, and in project delivery and implementation and have considerable experience in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems, along with strong communication and coordination skills. Creative thinking, a proactive attitude, good communication, organizational, and report writing skills are essential to this role.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Designing building mechanical systems including HVAC, pluming, fire protection, building controls
- System design calculations, equipment selection
- Interfacing and meeting with other design professionals for project coordination
- Preparation of contract drawings using AutoCAD
- Incorporate sustainable design strategies
- Computer building simulation modeling
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or Technical diploma in Building Design

Mechanical Field Services
Vancouver, BC
Position Details
We are currently seeking to fill a Mechanical Field Services position in our Vancouver office.
AME is looking for someone who is motivated, talented, and a committed team member to join us. Applicants should be a well-experienced with a mechanical trades background. In this position, you will be reviewing installation of mechanical systems for Plumbing, HVAC, Controls, and Fire Protection. You will work directly with other consultants, engineers, contractors, and trades people, as well as attend the occasional meetings. Creative thinking, a proactive attitude, good communication, organizational, and report writing skills are essential to this role.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Reviewing building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building controls
- General knowledge of building codes and standards
- Interfacing and meeting with other design professionals and contractors for project coordination
- Proficient in reading mechanical drawings
- Ability to provide clear direction to trades and work out solutions to challenges on site
- Travelling to several sites each day to review the progress and installation quality.
- Have a minimum of a class 5 driver license and reliable transportation. Milage and expenses paid monthly
Qualifications and Experience
- Trade Program or Practical On-Site Experience in as asset for this position
- Minimum 10 years experience in Construction as a lead hand or Superintendent in the mechanical trades.

Senior Mechanical Designer
Edmonton, AB
Position Details
AME is looking for someone who is motivated, talented, and a committed team member to join us. Applicants should be a well-experienced engineer with an excellent track record – technically, and in project delivery and implementation and have considerable experience in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems, along with strong communication and coordination skills. Creative thinking, a proactive attitude, good communication, organizational, and report writing skills are essential to this role.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the field of engineering.
- Conducting client meetings, preparing correspondence, reports, specifications and meeting minutes.
- Maintain effective liaison with clients, developers, consultants, agencies and the public either in concert with the principal-in-charge or independently on behalf of the practice
- Leading the design and construction administration process on your assigned projects from Schematic Design through to Project Close-out
- Directing staff on projects, assigning and reviewing work, and advising on technical problems.
- Establish and maintain project criteria by means of team-based communication
- Establish and monitor internal budgets and project delivery schedules
- Motivate teams toward performance excellence in all assigned tasks
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives for the development of new systems and standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Eng. or Professional Technologist designation preferred however not mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years of mechanical HVAC, plumbing and fire protection experience in design, project management and client relations
- Experience with industry software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, IESve, HAP, Microsoft Office
- Analytical, communication and report writing skills including the ability to obtain information and prepare reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with all employees, clients, colleagues, and municipal agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and conflicting priorities
- Ability to formulate sound engineering decisions and judgment
- Interest/experience in the application of green engineering principles; LEED® certification, Certified Passive House Designer certification, and experience with Net Zero design are all assets.

Social Events
Each year we put on several social events to build a stronger connection with each other. From individual team events to office holiday parties. The biggest event is our summer barbeque which brings together everyone in the company and their families for a fun day of activities and food.
