Canuck Place Dave Lede House

Canuck Place Dave Lede House in Abbotsford, BC house is the organization’s second provincial hospice facility, purpose-built for children and teenagers with progressive life-threatening illnesses, to provide specialized care and support and to help their families cope with medical and emotional challenges. Located on a 1.5-acre site adjacent to Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre, the new 30,000 sq.ft. hospice for Canuck Place forms part of a 3-facility Campus of Care alongside the Abbotsford Hospice Society’s Holmberg House (an adult hospice) and Matthew’s House (a respite home for children with complex health care needs) operated by Communitas Supportive Care Society. The project includes underground parking that connects to all three buildings.

The new Abbotsford facility is a design-build project supported by a $4 million contribution by the Dave Lede Family Foundation, $3 million in capital funding from the Province of BC and a further $6 million was raised by Canuck Place through generous individual, corporate and community partners.

Common amenities at this warm and welcoming hospice facility include; lounge, dining, kitchen, activity games room, and play therapy area are located on the main floor, 10 children’s bedrooms, medical support and therapy programs on the second level, and five family suites on the upper floor – doubling the province’s pediatric palliative care beds.
