The Sam Centre provides an engaging journey into the narrative of Stampede, powered by advanced technology and modern museum practices. As Mechanical Design Consultants for this project, AME has played a crucial role in shaping this educational experience.
Covering approximately 32,474 sq.ft., the Sam Centre is designed to be a welcoming and flexible space. Our mechanical design services were instrumental in the creation of various areas within the facility – from Exhibit Spaces (including at least one Class B museum standard space for precise temperature and humidity control) to Public Gathering Areas, offices, a Rooftop Patio, and even a Greenhouse.
One of our significant contributions was designing systems that accommodate Smudging ceremonies by the First Nations partners on the project, reflecting our commitment to respect and incorporate cultural practices in our designs.
However, the project wasn’t without its challenges. Achieving a Class B museum classification required meticulous planning and coordination with architectural elements. Despite these, our team successfully incorporated mechanical design solutions that met these requirements while maintaining the aesthetics and functionality of the space.
