The decision to construct Capstan Station was driven by the rapid developmental growth in the area, characterized by dense mixed-use neighborhoods and transit-oriented communities. The aim was to meet the burgeoning demand for ridership, which is expected to increase significantly with the growing population of approximately 16,000 residents. Moreover, the new station will provide a sustainable transportation option, aligning well with the city’s commitment to sustainability.

AME played a significant role in shaping the mechanical aspects of this project. Our responsibilities encompassed designing and overseeing the construction of HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression systems for the new station. This included ancillary spaces, passenger elevators and escalators, crew and public washrooms, a crew room, bike storage area, and service provisions for a potential commercial retail unit.
