The Doctors of BC renovation involved multiple tenant improvement projects across floors 1 through 5 of an existing office building, encompassing offices, meeting rooms, washrooms, and a café lounge. The work included mechanical system reviews and targeted HVAC and controls upgrades
within an occupied workplace environment.
AME provided mechanical and energy consulting services, including HVAC retrofits, controls system upgrades, and replacement of selected rooftop air handling equipment. Mechanical design addressed complex acoustic requirements, including full-height partitions extending through the ceiling plane and noise-sensitive spaces where mechanical services could not be located above occupied areas. Custom ductwork solutions were developed to pass through acoustic partitions without compromising sound performance.
High-occupancy conference spaces required dedicated ventilation strategies to support extended use and indoor air quality. One large conference area incorporated a retractable skyfold wall system, requiring mechanical coordination through the wall structure rather than above-ceiling distribution. The kitchenette and catering area were upgraded to support two commercial dishwashers and flexible food service use.
The project demonstrated careful mechanical coordination within an active office setting, balancing acoustic performance, thermal comfort, and ventilation requirements across varied workplace functions.
