PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

The FortisBC building in Penticton is home to the company’s meter shop for calibrating gas meters from across the province. AME’s mechanical scope for this project included:

  • Demolition of the existing wall between the new and existing space
  • A 1-storey addition measuring approximately 2,800 sq.ft. to the existing facility
  • 400 sq.ft. of exterior concrete pad with associated machinery
  • Review of high pressure feeds, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression requirements with FortisBC

The addition incorporates a specialized technical laboratory for the testing and calibration of meters and, as such, requires specific monitoring of humidity, working temperatures and air stratification.

AME’s mechanical design successfully addressed all requirements in addition to providing a dedicated historian computer to register precise measurements and verification per Measurement Canada. A phased work plan was created for the expanded calibration and metering shop to avoid disruption.
