PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Part of the larger Fraser Commons complex, we designed this state-of-the-art daycare to integrate seamlessly with the functionality of the larger complex, meeting and exceeding the City of Vancouver’s Childcare Technical Guidelines.

Where the City of Vancouver disallowed VRF systems at the time, the team innovatively incorporated a mini cooling plant. This plant houses three 4-ton mini chilled water units that provide efficient cooling. The mechanical systems generate zero on-site carbon emissions, aligning with the city’s sustainability policies and the project’s goal of shadowing LEED Silver.

Ventilation energy use is significantly reduced through the implementation of two HRVs in the daycare and one in the adjoining building. All domestic water is generated using an electric hot water tank which is then delivered to low flow fixtures.
