This new high-performance building includes flexible studios, labs and workshop spaces as well as exhibit and gallery spaces to display work. Also included in the design are prototyping labs, testing labs, instructional computer laboratories and presentation spaces, open studio space and resource centres.
AME worked in close collaboration with Transsolar and KPMB to develop an overall energy concept that maximizes occupancy comfort through the use of primarily passive systems to minimize energy demand. The key principles maximize natural daylight and ventilation and consequently reduce dependence on energy-intensive mechanical and lighting systems.
