The project transformed an existing two-storey fieldhouse into a dual-use facility combining a new childcare centre and a renewed public recreation space. The lower level was redeveloped as a childcare facility with associated outdoor play space operated by the City of North Vancouver. The upper level was rebuilt to support public recreation use and included change rooms, standard and accessible washrooms, and a covered outdoor public gathering area operated by the YMCA.
AME’s scope included full mechanical consulting services across all project phases, including HVAC, plumbing, and detailed fire suppression system design. Services progressed from initial concept and schematic design through construction documentation, construction administration, and project close-out.
The project required coordinated mechanical system design to support two distinct occupancies within a single structure, balancing childcare operational requirements with public assembly and recreation uses while working within the constraints of an existing building envelope.
