The NAIT Advanced Skills Centre is a 640,000 sq. ft. trades and technology facility on NAIT’s main campus, conceived as a central hub for apprenticeship and technology-based education in Alberta. The centre brings together 29 trades and technology programs under one roof and expands capacity to train more than 15,000 learners each year, including thousands of additional apprentices across construction, manufacturing, transportation, and energy sectors.
The building is organized to reflect how industry works, with adjacent labs and shops that connect related disciplines such as electrical, carpentry, welding, millwright, automotive, pipefitting, insulating, and plumbing trades.
Delivered through a construction management model, the project emphasizes collaboration between NAIT, the design team, and industry partners. The facility is designed with resource efficiency and long-term sustainability in mind, with systems and spaces planned to adapt to changing technologies, program requirements, and workforce needs over time.
