PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Prairie Winds Park underwent a planned redevelopment to expand year-round recreational use following a City-led public engagement process. The updated park concept introduced multi-season amenities, including sports fields adaptable for winter use, a lookout hill designed for tobogganing, youth play areas, trails, and picnic spaces.

AME was engaged as the mechanical consultant to design a new outdoor wading pool featuring interactive water elements and a large lazy river. The mechanical scope included full pool system design, with a focus on suction hazard compliance and updated pool safety standards.

The pool filtration plant design addressed industry concerns related to chloramines in aquatic environments. Ultraviolet light treatment was incorporated as a secondary disinfection method to reduce chloramine concentration in the pool water by breaking down chloramines remaining after primary treatment.

The completed outdoor pool formed the largest wading pool installation in western Canada and supported safe, high-use aquatic recreation within a public park setting.
