This mixed-use development consists of 11 residential high-rise buildings. With a focus on sustainability, the development will have an on-site district energy system that recovers heat from the municipal wastewater system. Overall, the development will have very low operational carbon emissions, aligning with the highest level of the Zero Carbon Step Code. To foster community growth, this site will have over 7.5 acres of public space and more than 1,200 affordable rentals. A significant number of units will be reserved for members of the Squamish First Nation at affordable rental prices to allow members to return to Sen̓áḵw.
AME has been involved in the project since the master planning stage supporting: assessing different mechanical system types; collaborating with the district energy provider; energy analysis to assist the architect with building form; site servicing and coordination with civil; de-risking for future code changes and project phasing strategies.
The project is being completed in four phases:
Phase 1 and 2: AME is involved in a design-build contract with True Mechanical. Phase 1 has an estimated completion date of 2025;
Phase 3 and 4: AME is currently in the schematic design phase.
