Project Details
This $36 million aquatic facility consists of 8 x 50m competition lanes, diving platforms, a leisure and wave pool with spray features, a whirlpool for 30 people, a lazy river and waterslide.
The City of Edmonton was looking for a facility that exceeded the standards for pool water quality and retained AME to provide full building mechanical design including aquatic filtration and disinfection. Filtration was provided by large anthracite/sand filters with carbon polish finish which has a lower micron particle removal than the traditional high-rate sand. Sanitation was provided by an electrolytic salt-chlorine system. Together, these systems have achieved superb water quality even under high municipal bathing loads.
Ventilation heat recovery implemented throughout also contributed to the Centre achieving LEED Silver certification.
