The expansion at Whitehorse General Hospital (WGH) showcases a state-of-the-art, two-story addition to the existing facility. The goal was to bolster and maintain the hospital’s ability to deliver safe, high-quality care for years to come.
As the mechanical consultant, AME was tasked with upgrading the building’s mechanical systems to accommodate the expansion. Key elements of our work included:
• Implementing modular construction techniques
• Establishing a new emergency department and preparing second-floor space for future use
• Enhancing WGH’s power infrastructure to support the expansion and setting up a new data centre to facilitate patient care information systems
• Relocating critical diagnostic imaging equipment, such as the CT scanner and X-ray machines, closer to the new emergency department
• Moving the ambulance station from its current location at WGH to a newly constructed building on Hospital Road.
With these improvements, we’ve helped see that WGH is equipped to handle modern healthcare demands effectively.
